Circling

We reach, but the ring swings free;
You have to get off the carousel to catch it.
Once left behind, though,
The horses no longer jump and prance,
Bob and dance.
Entered by morning, the carnival smells of popcorn and cotton candy
But, after the night falls,
The dizzying lights blind.
When the cryers call closing,
All the little children have already gone;
Having ridden away with the horses.
