Eek, old poetry, nooooo!

This one's from my days in the early `90s spent recovering from my injury in the then new club, Kerouac's. There were poetry readings there, so I decided to see if I still 'had it', but I was long since jaded and cynical. I also happened to be rereading Alice's Adventures. Here's the result.

Kerouacky

`Twas coolness, and the wiggin' slackers
Did toke and trip out at the rave,
All hard-wired were the backroom hackers
And the Jesus freaks did save.

"Beware of Kerouac's, my droogs;
The cunts that tease, the cocks that scheme.
Beware the homophobes and lose
The Euro-American dream."

With Paper Mates in hand,
Light-years the Baptist scum they dissed
And even the happy pacifists
Could tell that they were pissed.

When tired of all this cock-and-bull,
To Kerouac's, with notebooks full,
The beatnicks they began to tool,
But couldn't get the gist.

Testing, testing, three and four,
The poetics went to the mic
And poured their hearts out on the floor
As the masses cheered-sike!

"And have y'all capped the decaffe god?
Let's have a group hug on the stage."
"No fucking way!" the punks did say,
And filled another page.

`Twas coolness, and the wiggin' slackers
Did toke and trip out at the rave,
All hard-wired were the backroom hackers
And the Jesus freaks did save.
